Work with Us

Financial Planning Process

Here’s an overview of how our process works:

  • We’ll hold a 30-minute call to get to know you, your family, and what’s most important in your lives

  • Next, we work with you to collect all of your quantitative financial data … and we’ll hold your hand to make sure it’s not an overwhelming process

  • After your data has been reviewed, we’ll discuss questions the team may have, and further refine your family’s goals, values and objectives.

  • We’ll come back together for a second one hour meeting to make sure we have everything right. I’ll share some initial thoughts, and ask any questions or for further clarification

  • Finally, at the plan presentation meeting, I’ll share my final thoughts. Also, we’ll prioritize the recommendations to make sure that you’re able to take action.

  • You’ll receive the following:

    • Three one-hour meetings

    • A one page written financial plan

    • Basic financial organizer

    • For business owners, we can provide more detailed personal financial reports, such as a balance sheet, cash flow projection, and/or tax planning recommendations

  • After your plan is presented, if desired, you can continue working with us. We’ll help with the following:

    • Implementing recommendations (we’re happy to remind you to “do the homework!”)

    • Investment review

    • Email support with any ongoing questions

    • Meetings twice per year to check in and update; life inevitably changes!

    • Coming soon: Unlimited access to courses/content

    • Optional: If investment management is requested, we can discuss costs/services offered for this separate service. We do not mandate managing client assets.

 FAQs

  • 99% of meetings are held on Zoom. If desired, you’re invited to come to our Libertyville, IL office for your financial plan presentation meeting. I have flexibility with meeting times – please see my Calendly

  • Yes! There is no mandate to work with us ongoing. However, many clients feel that it is a great way to hold them accountable. You have up to 3 months after the financial plan presentation to decide. After that, you may be subject to another initial project fee.

  • We really prefer that both members of a couple participate in our meetings, especially the first meeting when we discuss your values and goals. However, if you have separate finances or a special circumstance, we can discuss. Please know that there is no pressure to be formal for these meetings –turn off your camera, wear sweats, or eat dinner while we chat – whatever is most convenient for you!

  • Yes! A fiduciary means that we put your best interests first; we are ethically and legally bound to do so. Good faith and trust are the names of the game for Prism Planning Partners. With that, we want to make sure you agree with our recommendations; we don’t charge an unreasonable fee; and that we provide value in excess of what you’re paying.

  • Presently, we still believe crypto is extremely new and extremely volatile, and we do not hold in our client accounts. Our style is based on the fundamentals. We emphasize educating clients about risk, and making sure you understand the risk you’re taking on with more alternative investments. We are not stock pickers or market timers. We follow evidence-based research when making investment recommendations. So no, we will not recommend a specific crypto /NFT/individual stock holding.

  • 7-10 business days before we meet, I will reach out to request updated statements as well as any life updates. I will need this information returned 72 hours before an upcoming meeting to have time to review. This way, I can come prepared to our meeting with potential ideas, including any investment modification recommendations. I reserve the right to reschedule if this information is not returned on time.

NOTE: If our firm manages your investments, I handle some of this for you
